Hindsight 20/20: I can see clearly now!

“I can see clearly now the rain is gone. I can see all obstacles In my way…” -Johnny Nash

I usually go to my comprehensive eye exam annually, mainly to get a new prescription of contacts! I have astigmatism and difficulty seeing FAR AWAY so this is imperative! However, it’s been TWO years since I’ve gone! I use the monthly disposable contacts and didn’t have a “need” to go even though I was two years overdue!! It was only when I was DOWN TO MY LAST PAIR that I realized it was time to schedule my appointment! The opthomologist checked my vision, and said my vision hadn’t changed that much and my eyes were HEALTHY! Thank God!! 🙌🏾😩 I was thankful because my prescription hadn’t changed that much and the condition of my eyes were great! It was then that I realized after my exam that 1. It could have been worst! I waited so long to get my eyes examed! What if something was found but could have been addressed a year ago? 2. I must not go to my exams only when I need something! Two years was too long!

I began to think about a few things with our relationship with God! Why do we see the bigger picture only afterward? Why do we wait until the last minute to call upon him? Why do we wait until we are down to our last option and THEN cry out to him as if he is a last choice?

Have you ever taken a step back after the bad break up or being terminated from the stressful job and saw the bigger picture! You only see clearly when it’s over? What if you were able to see clearer DURING the stressful situation? I’ve learned that if I decided to change my perspective and perception it would change my thoughts and response to that situation or even how I viewed God!

MATTHEW‬ ‭6:22-23‬ states, “The eye is the lamp of the body; so if your eye is clear [spiritually perceptive], your whole body will be full of light [benefiting from God’s precepts]. But if your eye is bad [spiritually blind], your whole body will be full of darkness [devoid of God’s precepts]. So if the [very] light inside you [your inner self, your heart, your conscience] is darkness, how great and terrible is that darkness!” (AMP version)

Our physical eyes allow us to see things in this natural/physical realm! However, when tests and trials come, seeing in the natural realm only can be disheartening and discouraging! It is when we begin to see Spiritually that we can see the way God sees! We can either see according to God’s view or our own/the world’s/others view! We can either have an eye that illuminates light that is bright, clear, and gives us a perspective of the things of God, His will, and his way, or see in darkness, have blindness, and have a light that isn’t of God but a counterfeit (Satan mascarades as an angel of light)!

We must ask God for a new vision, new sight, and his perspective when situations and circumstances come our way! If we want a clear vision of our present or future , we must ask for God to enlighten the eyes of our hearts so we can see him in any and every circumstance! Not just when we need him! But all of the time! Seeking his perspective in all things concerning our lives!

I have a new perspective in the Spiritual and clearer vision in the physical! I can see far now because my vision is sharper! My vision is 20/20 now! And honestly it took this trip to the opthomologist to give me a new perspective on my current circumstance and season! Let us remember that in order for us to see clearly, we must have a new perspective, new sight, a sharper focus into our destiny through the eyes of Christ! I guess you can say, the HINDSIGHT is 20/20!

I can totally relate with your words. We have to learn to step back or pause in any situation to see if it’s really our calling. Is it really what He wants us to do? We are so cut up with life, family, jobs and the day to day activities that we never pause to really see clearly if we are in the right situation. We just go with the flow as stressful as it may be. Thank God I have learned to force myself to stop and look at my situation and I am very pleased with where I am so far in life today and where I will be heading this year because I am being led by Him because it is my calling.
