No Short Cuts

So I’m driving home from bible study tonight and I see road construction and traffic stopping! I thought, “Well praise God a way of escape!! I know another way home!” However…. (🤦🏾‍♀️) as I’m driving down what I think is a detour, I run into a road closure and signs “detouring” me to another route. I begin thanking God as I’m following traffic and thanking him for the way of escape, however as I am driving, I begin to realize that the “original detour” I took brought me to another detour and it was twice as long… I mean real long…Like so long, that if I would have stayed in the traffic and never took the detour I would have been almost home! 😳🤭 There was road construction and lanes were ending causing cars to merge. I thought it would take so long to get home because of the closed lanes…

THIS is when God spoke and told me that I should have stayed on my original route.

Everything we have gone through and will go through involves processes. All of creation has been set this way and that is because the process is so important to God! The in between…like how we handle conflict, how we respond in difficult times, if we go back to the thing that almost destroyed us… is what God is concerned about!

We Must remember that there are NO SHORT CUTS with God! The path, the route, the journey, or storm must take place. Sometimes God (according to his will) may detour you from danger… (there wasn’t any in my case just bumper to bumper traffic) , or you may detour yourself (trying to rush the process or avoid it all together) and call it a pathway from God… but it’s your OWN way.

God is so good because though we lean to our own understanding, he works everything for our good (Romans 8:28) and guides us back on the right path. It may take us longer to get to our destination, but that should remind us to be led by God and not by our flesh.

A 30 min ride took almost 45 min all because I “thought” the detour would be fast. Running from the process, choosing your own way, giving up, cannot be an option if you want to get to your destination or obtain the promise! Don’t get off the path set before you just because you think it will take longer! Stay focused and wait patiently and remember that when you get to the end it will be well worth it because you took No short cuts!
